About [GELATO PIQUE EAMES COLLECTION]

Charles and Ray Eames are ranked among the finest American designers of the 20th Century, best known for transforming design’s very nature and practice with their groundbreaking contributions to furniture design, filmmaking, education, art, and toys.Like many fans in Japan, Gelato Pique have been long time admirers of the Eames Office and are consistently influenced not only by their designs, but also by their design philosophy. Through our collections, we always seek for our customers to feel a special quality in materials and function as much as joy and emotion. In this new collection, Gelato Pique sought to capture the essence of Charles and Ray Eames’ belief that good designs “should take their pleasure seriously” in the relaxed energy of our loungewear, which we have been carefully refining for decades. Gelato Pique hopes that fans of both brands will come together to enjoy the playful nature of the pieces included.

About [BABY MOCO ELEPHANT SERIES]

Charles and Ray Eames were fascinated by elephants. Many images of these gentle giants are found in Charles’ photographic documentations of Indian culture and the circus world. Their Plywood Elephant was designed in 1945 as a playful expression of their molded plywood experiments. Because of the complex manufacturing process required, only two prototypes
were made at the time, making it a legendary design.

The “Baby Moco" Elephant Series is characterized by its lightweight, soft and fluffy texture. This eye-catching jacquard series features the iconic Eames Plywood Elephant on the front in wonderful colors; it makes for a great gift.

About [Limited Edition “The Toy”]

The limited edition is inspired by the shapes and color combination of Charles and Ray Eames’ design “The Toy”.

Charles and Ray Eames had eclectic passions; Charles was more than an architect, and Ray was more than a painter. Together, their broad spectrum of interests resulted in a catalog of film, photography, furniture, and even toys.

In 1951, Charles and Ray Eames brought to market The Toy, a colorful, thoughtful product intended for both children and adults. People of all ages still love The Toy for its nearly limitless uses, including creating tunnels and structures for play, towers, houses, and tents. It’s possible to use it as a theater set to stage a show, as party décor, shade from the sun, or even an airplane. The outside label reads:
“Large. Colorful. Easy to assemble. For creating a light, bright expandable world large enough to play in and around.”

The soft and fluffy texture of Gelato Pique’s signature textile is retained, but the yarn is made from recycled plastic bottles to create an earth-friendly product. The relaxed silhouette of the Cowichan hoodie with a generous body width and hip-hugging length provides a sense of security and comfort. Enjoy the warm setup with the matching long pants and Slippers.
